In the world of online community, one authoritative man can dictate ...

My colleagues are told to accept as many students as possible, even for a seminar class. So you'll have 40 or 50 people in a seminar. There's nothing wrong with classes that size.

"But they're not seminars."

To the extent people outside the system know anything about CSU, they know it's huge and broke. Unlike its smaller, more prestigious, better-funded UC cousin, CSU -- or just "Cal State," as it often is called -- did not prosper during the 1990s boom. Rather than load up on new, tenure-track faculty and watch endowments bulge, CSU spent much of the last decade in brutal labor negotiations and harrowing budget disputes. Full-time faculty ratios dropped; enrollment soared. But if CSU missed the boom, it got a full share of the bust: This spring, Governor Davis slashed the system's already razor-thin budget by $43 million.

Wildstyle Re-released Today As 25th Anniversary Special Edition

Wildstyle is regarded as a must see for anyone interested in Hip Hop culture. The film, which was shot on location in the South Bronx, turned 25 this year, and was re-released today, October 23rd, as a special edition. Directed by Charlie Ahearn, the film was the first of its kind to embody the full spectrum of Hip Hop culture. From graffiti, to b-boying, to emceeing, all is presented in the film. The story follows Zorro, a graffiti writer recruited by an East Village art connoisseur for a huge Rapper's convention. Zorro was played by local graf artist, Lee Quinones, with much of the cast filled primarily by South Bronx Hip Hoppers. Along with Quinones, Fab Five Freddy, Busy Bee, The Rock Steady Crew, and Cold Crush Brothers make appearances in the film. The 25th Anniversary edition includes a special mini documentary, commentary by Ahearn and Fab Five Freddy, footage from the 20th Anniversary party, a "Bongo Barbershop" DJ Battle, unreleased photos and more.
