The passengers and crew were fortunate not to be seriously injured. Southwest flight crews have a history of undertaking similarly risky aircraft operations. 'This is at least the fourth instance where a Southwest jet has overrun a runway or ran off a taxiway in just the past few years. It continues to raise serious safety concerns about Southwest's operations and culture,- says Dan Rose, partner at Kreindler & Kreindler LLP who has and is currently handling cases stemming from two separate Southwest Airlines runway overrun incidents. One overrun occurred on Dec. 8, 2005 when Southwest Airlines Flight 1248 was landing in a snowstorm at Midway Airport and skidded off the runway killing Joshua Woods, 6, in front of his family. Similar weather conditions to the ones in Spokane prevailed at time of this incident.

On November 2007, the Kansas National Guard assumed command of Multi-National Task Force East (MNTF-E) in Kosovo under command of Brigadier General John E. Davoren. BG Davoren is the Deputy Commanding General for the Kansas National Guard's 35th Infantry Division. The United States contingent of MNTF-E is made up of approximately 1,400 personnel. The majority of the soldiers come from the Kansas and Missouri National Guard. Many of these soldiers are your neighbors. .

What we heard: Early Thursday, the Reuters news service ran a story on a 12 percent increase in the price of shares for Switzerland-based PC peripheral maker Logitech. As for the cause of that spike, the service simply cited "traders" as speculating that Microsoft was planning a takeover bid on the company. According to one trader, Microsoft was planning to offer 48 Swiss francs (nearly $44) per share of Logitech, for a total of roughly $10 billion. Mere hours after that report went up, Reuters followed up with another article about the rumors, this one featuring a quote from Logitech board member Daniel Borel, who also happens to be the company's cofounder and single largest shareholder. Though Borel owns only 6 percent of Logitech and said he would neither encourage nor prevent a sale of the company, he did say there was no reason for him to sell his stake, likening it to parents selling their children.
