| Phoning it in: Tahoe planning agency to allow teleconferencing
Whether it be for adverse weather conditions or medical reasons, members of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency governing board no longer have to be physically present at their monthly meetings to participate in discussions or cast a vote.
The board unanimously amended their code at their Incline Village meeting last week to allow members to participate in meetings over the phone.
The idea is not to overuse (the teleconferencing option), Legal Counsel Joanne Marchetta told the board at last weeks meeting. The idea is to only use it in those circumstances where we really need it.
With a majority of the 15-member governing board living outside of the Basin from San Francisco to Las Vegas driving over mountain passes to attend a meeting can be hazardous, agency officials said.

Ex-TopShop Guru Jane Shepherdson Takes Whistles Stake
Former TopShop boss Jane Shepherdson has made her High Street comeback after taking a stake in Whistles and becoming its chief executive. The ex-brand director of TopShop, who left in October 2006 after being widely credited with helping revive the chain, is believed to have taken a 20% stake in the upmarket women's retailer. She quit just days after supermodel Kate Moss was hired in a multi-million pound deal to design a range of clothes and take part in promotional work. However, Ms Shepherdson has always strongly denied that there was any connection between the two events. She said at the time: "It is absolutely not true. I like Kate and I find it embarrassing that people think I left over a row about a supermodel. It is a shame that people think I am that trivial." She said the "boring truth" was that she had decided it was time to move on.
