Don't trade for Santana, and especially don't give up Hughes and Melky and maybe also another young pitcher. In fact, it's starting to look like the Yankees are trying to get Santana for one reason: So the Red Sox don't. That's the best reason, but is it a good reason? What would they have to give up? I haven't heard any rumors regarding that, from sources reliable or otherwise. Several years ago, I was at Yankee Stadium for a game against the Seattle Mariners. While on line at Monument Park, I looked up at the scoreboard and saw the uniform number for the Seattle pitcher, and wondered who that was. Overhearing, the guy behind me said it was Floyd Bannister. Or, as he called him, "Fifth-Inning Floyd." There's an old saying, and I don't know how accurate it is, but it's this: Never give up on a lefthanded pitcher until he's at least 31 years old.

I had avoided doing so because I had heard getting into the show required great dedication and frankly, I didn't think i had the time. I have since purchased the first three seasons, having watched the first two seasons in less than two weeks time. I am half way through the 3rd season and not looking back. My question for the forum: do you watch this show? Do you find it as thrilling, exciting and thought provoking as I do? Jack Bauer for president '08? I really need to know if I am alone with this as my sleep pattern has been significantly altered since becoming a "24 freak"?! Also, I figured this show may be popular with the HBO crowd so advice from you regulars is much appreciated! JimmyMAC .

The Dallas Cowboys still have to beat the New York Giants on Sunday, not to mention either the Seattle Seahawks or Green Bay Packers next weekend. But that hasn't stopped longtime Cowboys season ticket holder Paul Gabriel from making plans to go to Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, Ariz., on Feb. 3. Mr. Gabriel, who operates the popular "Gabe's Trailer" tailgate party, said he was convinced in early December that the Cowboys would play in the Super Bowl and made plans to stay with a friend in Scottsdale, Ariz. He's hoping to get game tickets through the team's ticket lottery and plans to fly his six-seat Piper Malibu private plane there. "I just said, 'What the heck, I'm going whether [the Cowboys] get there or not,' " Mr. Gabriel said. "But I do think they'll get there." With a place to stay and a private plane, Mr.
